Whats is BodyTalk ?

BodyTalk is a consciousness based form of healthcare and a type of energy medicine that combines elements of both Eastern and Western medicine. BodyTalk is a “whole-healthcare” system with a holistic approach to healing. Each individual is seen as a whole on all levels of being: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. BodyTalk facilitates healing on all these levels.

In BodyTalk, we believe that the body is designed to heal itself. When all parts and systems of the body communicate with each other, healing happens naturally. However, through exposure to the stresses of day-to-day life, these lines of communication can become compromised, which can lead to a decline in physical, emotional and/or mental health. 

BodyTalk identifies these communication breakdowns and uses gentle tapping techniques to restore communication, helping the body to heal itself.

BodyTalk is a non-invasive and very effective form of therapy that allows the body’s energy systems to be resynchronized so they can operate as nature intended.

The Story of The BodyTalk System

The BodyTalk System was developed by Dr. John Veltheim, an Australian Chiropractor, Acupuncturist, Reiki Master and teacher, in the 1990s.  Dr. Veltheim ran a successful clinic for 15 years in Brisbane and served as Principal of the Brisbane College of Acupuncture and Natural Therapies for 5 years. He has also studied extensively applied kinesiology, bio-energetic, psychology, osteopathy, quantum physics, sports medicine, counselling and comparative philosophy and theology.

How does BodyTalk work ?

During a BodyTalk session, the practitioner facilitates communication with the innate wisdom of the body by using neuromuscular biofeedback.

After asking the innate wisdom of the body a series of yes or no questions, the client’s own body wisdom leads the practitioner to locate the imbalances within the body that are a priority, or are not communicating correctly and are out of balance with the rest of the body.

The practitioner will then hold the areas that have been highlighted by the testing procedure and taps gently on the head, heart and navel.

The techniques of BodyTalk are gentle and non-invasive. They involve some hand positions and light tapping over the head, heart and navel. 

Why these 3 points?

  • The head is tapped through 2 breathing cycles to bring the issues to the awareness of the brain and so the brain repairs the communication links.
  • The heart center or sternum is tapped to ensure the new information is stored throughout the whole body, thereby ensuring that the changes will last. 
  • The navel or gut brain is tapped to stimulate the assimilating function of the gut brain. Once the head brain has activated the changes and the heart brain has stored them, the changes need to be fully taken in and absorbed or “digested” by the gut brain. The changes then become integrated at a “gut” level, becoming more fully embodied.

This process ensures that the body can function and operate at optimal levels. This will in turn accelerate the healing process, thus preventing future imbalances within those highlighted areas. 

The BodyTalk practitioner is teaching the body to return to its natural balance.

Breathing is key in a BodyTalk sessions. Each breath facilitates the movement of energy throughout the body and encourages the release of unhealthy stored emotions and beliefs. The practitioner will encourage the client to take some deep belly breathing throughout the session and during the tapping process.

What does BodyTalk do and Why is it effective ?

BodyTalk is a simple and safe form of holistic healthcare that provides fast results. BodyTalk facilitates the natural healing process of the body. It allows the body’s own healing abilities to create change. It highlights a certain imbalance in the mindbody, bring it to awareness and trigger the balancing process through tapping over the 3 tapping points. The issues addressed in a BodyTalk session touch all levels of beings of the client. They can be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. Therefore, the client will feel subtle or dramatic shifts in all areas of their life. The changes can be felt immediately or will unfold over a few days/weeks. Clients will often see long-lasting, ongoing improvements in health rather than short-term symptomatic relief.

What BodyTalk does NOT do ?

BodyTalk is not meant to diagnose any medical condition. 
BodyTalk does not treat symptoms or specific ailments.
BodyTalk does not cure any disease or illness.
BodyTalk is not used to prescribe drugs, supplements or therapies.

Can BodyTalk work at a distance and How?

The client doesn’t need to be physically present in the same space or time as the practitioner for a BodyTalk session to work. The session will enfold the same way as if they were both in the same room. The key is the focus of the practitioner in holding space for the client. The practitioner mentally focuses on the client for information. The tapping process is still implemented. The practitioner will use itself as a surrogate for the “muscle checking”. The changes will still enfold in the person, as space and time are not barriers for the shifts to be effective.

  • If the client wants to be virtually present during the session, we will use Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime or Whatsapp video call.
  • If the client can’t be virtually present for the session, the audio recording of the session or an email will be sent to the client so the client can listen to or read the session at their convenience.

Try this easy self-help technique

The Cortices technique might be the single most critical technique in BodyTalk.

All disease is reflected in the brain at some level. In studies using infrared photography of patients with various symptoms, it was found that there were “cold” spots of diminished blood supply or cellular activity in the brain cortices on both sides. This shows that everything that is problematic with the body is reflected in the brain as faulty activity or “cold” spots.

Once the communication between these “cold”spots has been restored, we can see significant improvements in many physical and mental illnesses.

You can do the Cortices technique daily as many times as needed or desired.

The cortices of the brain are made up of the frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal lobes. Balancing the cortices balances the whole mindbody complex.
